Yesterday was a big day for Riles...we were back in Atlanta for another blood draw. We were told this was a make-it/break-it day as his PHE levels should be low and in the normal 2% - 6% range, and if not, that would be a bad thing. Last week, his levels were 13.5%, so we were "hopetimistic" that his levels were going to drop. Imagine our surprise when Nyssa called this morning with some unreal news...his levels yesterday were 0.1%...actually LESS THAN NORMAL!!! While this could cause growth problems if left abnormally low for a long period of time (the course of a few months), for now, it's great. We've actually been allowed to back off the number of grams we use of the special formula (from 100g to 45g for a 24-hour period) and add breast milk to his feedings, which has been our goal since the beginning.
We are looking forward to a HUGE Christmas this year! We will start tomorrow with a traditional Danish dinner with my parents and brother and sister-in-law (I LOVE it when Adam cooks:)!!!). The kids will get to open their gifts (they are having a a big, big Christmas...even Riley is getting tons of stuff!) and we will get to go to bed EARLY to prepare for Christmas brunch on Thursday! Hopefully, my little maw-maw will get to come for the brunch and enjoy all the stuff Mom and I are cooking for the day (breakfast casserole, biscuits and gravy, sausage, bacon, fruits and bagels, and of course, pigs in blankets)...I am so hungry just posting this! We wish everyone a Wonderful Christmas...stay safe and warm and I will post pictures soon!
